One of the most interesting things to me is that on one hand you have women in the west complaining that Muslim women who cover are somehow being oppressed and are inferior to men, then on the other hand you have Muslim women who think that the women in the west that don’t cover are exploited and degraded by men … but on both sides there is a common assumption and acceptance that either way, whether it be wearing hijab/burqa/niqab or not wearing anything - women are dressed for or because of, men.
What about the women that choose to wear or not wear things solely because they choose to? Not because a man commanded them to or because that’s what they think men want to see? Not because of the media or society but purely because they woke up that morning and decided for themselves, “This is what I want to wear”
Do people not think that’s possible?
I’ve wanted to say something like this before but my problem is I never know how to word it, this is however PERFECTLY said. I hope people will fathom this for once.
